Manchester United get welcome news on Andre Onana’s injury

Andre Onana’s injury is not as bad as first feared and the Manchester United goalkeeper expects to be fit to face Everton next weekend.

The 27-year-old was forced off after 81 minutes in a World Cup qualifying win for Cameroon over Mauritius.

With United’s ever-growing injury list, the withdrawal of our first choice keeper sparked fears in fans because it would be the last thing Erik ten Hag needs now.

The Reds take on Everton in the Premier League next Sunday at Goodison Park, but Stretty News understands that Onana expects to make the trip.

Sources close to the player indicate Onana’s injury is not serious and that he came off as soon as he felt pain in his back. The United shot stopper didn’t want to exacerbate the problem by playing on.

Is it not yet known if Onana will face Libya in a second World Cup qualifier for his country in Baninha.

However, those close to the player say he should be fine to face Everton.

Ten Hag didn’t want to be without a player he has started in all of United’s 19 games this season.

No.2 and Turkey international Altay Bayindir has yet to make his debut and it would have been far from ideal to throw him in at Goodison Park. He joined from Fenerbahce in the summer before Dean Henderson left.
