Ruud van Nistelrooy tips Manchester United target for bright future

Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has sung the praises of Jarrad Branthwaite following rumours linking the young centre-back with a move to Old Trafford.

Branthwaite, 21, impressed on loan during Van Nistelrooy’s short spell in charge of PSV Eindhoven last season.

With 36 appearances across all competitions for PSV, scoring four goals, Branthwaite will have more clubs tracking his progress this season after returning to Everton. The Daily Mail claim United could make a move for the England U21 international.

Former United goalscorer Van Nistelrooy is a big fan of Branthwaite and is expecting him to have a bright future in the game.

Van Nistelrooy said (via The Mirror): “He is a great talented. The boy is young, but he has a future. He is good on the ball, can play on the left or the right of centre-back because he is two-footed. He has height and speed, so he is very complete.”

FootballTransfers understands that Everton’s position is that Branthwaite is not for sale.

Van Nistelrooy quit as PSV coach in May amid reports of a player revolt, despite leading the team to a Dutch Cup final.

United have already made two signings this summer, with a third addition expected to be added to the squad this week.

Andre Onana arrives as our new goalkeeper and Mason Mount joins the midfield department.

The third and latest signing is Rasmus Hojlund, although a deal has yet to be confirmed by the club.
