Donny van de Beek backed to resurrect career with move to Scotland

Former Scotland international Alan Hutton has backed Donny van de Beek to get his career back on track if he joins Celtic this summer.

The Netherlands international joined Manchester United in 2020, but since then he has struggled to secure a place in the team under three different managers.

Many thought the arrival of Erik ten Hag would be good news for Van de Beek due to the relationship they shared at Ajax. However, the 26-year-old couldn’t get into the team last season and suffered a knee injury that ruled him out of action for the second half of the campaign.

Celtic have been heavily linked with a move for the United midfielder on loan, as per 90 Min.

Van de Beek is likely to leave Old Trafford but the Reds should prioritise a permanent move, but that will depend on what offers come our way. His value in the market has decreased in recent years and that means United will need to take a financial hit to move him on.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Aston Villa midfielder Alan Hutton believes a move to Celtic would be brilliant for Van de Beek.

“This is a guy with all the talent and it has just not quite happened for him in the Premier League. He still has a lot of football in front of him. If Celtic can get a hold of him, I think it would be an outstanding signing. He is very talented, has played at a high level for his whole career, came through at Ajax. He has just had a hard couple of seasons and he probably just needs an arm around him, something that Brendan [Rodgers] would probably do.”

  1. van de Beek has never been ‘strongly linked’ with Celtic, other than through the desperate attention-seeking ramblings of a few aging Scots jakey pundits, desperate for any clickbait spotlight…
Hutton, Lennon, Kenny Miller…none of them privy to anything the Celtic board have planned, just serving up any old lies to their English media paymasters.
Donny won’t want a move, we can’t match his wages and Ten Haag will want a sale, not a loan. A non story and you should know better than to blindly cut’n’paste from these types of sites
