Cristiano Ronaldo has let down a lot of Manchester United fans with the manner and timing of an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.
Erik ten Hag and his players are understood to be “extremely disappointed” with Ronaldo after his latest attempt to steal the team’s thunder after a 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday.
In a 90-minute interview, Ronaldo claimed Ten Hag wants to force him out of Old Trafford and that he feels betrayed.
When asked if he felt people were pushing him out of the club, he told Morgan: “Yes, not only the coach, but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed.”
Ronaldo added that he does not respect manager Ten Hag and fans were quick to jump to the Dutchman’s defence on social media.
However, Piers Morgan has appeared on talkSPORT radio this morning to explain how he landed the explosive interview.
We think it is obvious that Morgan was chosen by Ronaldo because the Portuguese veteran wanted to have control over the questions he would be asked.
Morgan said: “Cristiano asked me to do it.”
He added: “He knows it’s going to be incendiary but he feels he should be doing this.”

Ronaldo did the interview to push himself away from United ahead of the World Cup and January transfer window. Only time will tell if he gets the move he wants because there wasn’t a lot of interest in his signature last summer.
