Christian Eriksen favours Tottenham return or Brentford stay over Manchester United

We haven’t heard anything concrete about Christian Eriksen since Manchester United tabled their offer to the Denmark international, who is set to leave Brentford and become a free agent next week.

Eriksen made a dramatic return to football in January with newly promoted side Brentford – just months after collapsing on the pitch during a Euro 2020 match due to a cardiac arrest.

After proving he still has what it takes to play at the highest level in the Premier League, you won’t be surprised to hear that the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has more than one offer on the table this summer.

However, the Guardian claims United have suffered further rejection from another Ten Hag target, with Eriksen “favouring either remaining at Brentford or returning to Tottenham.”

That sounds very underwhelming and may show the hierarchy how much damage was done to the club’s reputation last season.

From the European Super League nightmare to finishing sixth and going a fifth year without a trophy, Ten Hag has a lot of work to do to convince some of the biggest stars to join him on his quest for success at Old Trafford.

So far, it doesn’t look like John Murtough is having much luck on that front.

Eriksen is a player we should be signing without having to work hard, especially as a free agent and when you look at the other clubs trying to sign him this summer.

It’s still early in the transfer window but for everyone’s sake we hope United get some positive business done in the coming days. Ten Hag should have his primary target for the first game on tour against Liverpool on July 12.
