Loads of Man Utd fans react as Angel Gomes left out entirely v Tranmere

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named a strong starting eleven to face Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup fourth round at Prenton Park.

The United boss has made six changes to the side that were defeated 2-0 by Burnley in midweek.

Sergio Romero starts in goal, with United returning to a three-at-the-back formation as Phil Jones, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof all start.

Diogo Dalot returns to the team on the right-flank with Luke Shaw getting a start ahead of Brandon Williams.

Jesse Lingard plays in attack alongside Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

But one notable omission from the squad is Angel Gomes.

Gomes is not even named on the substitutes bench this afternoon despite an expectation that he could start the game against the League One strugglers.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been starved of first-team opportunities this season and again misses the chance to impress this afternoon.

With less than one year remaining on Gomes’ United contract, there are fears he will leave the club on a free this summer as he is continuing to struggle for game time.
