Nine Manchester United greats taking part in Vincent Kompany’s testimonial

The squads have now been revealed for Vincent Kompany’s testimonial game at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday September 11.

A Man City legends side will take on an All Star Premier League XI, including a host of ex-United stars to celebrate the 33-year-old’s career.

Kompany left City this summer to join Anderlecht in a player-manager role, but will make a welcome return to Manchester on Wednesday night.

There will always be rivalry among teams and supporters in football, but Kompany is a likeable figure and has contributed to lots of charity work to do with homelessness in Manchester.

Edwin van der Sar returns to Manchester as part of the All Stars squad, amid rumours of taking the United director of football job.

Class of 92 members Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, and Paul Scholes will also feature in the one-off game.

Wes Brown, winner of five titles at Old Trafford will play along with former defensive partner and Reading coach John O’Shea.

Robin Van Persie, responsible for bringing the 20th league title to Old Trafford, will also play a part in attack alongside Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
