Man Utd star seeks talks with Solskjaer over uncertain future, European clubs monitoring situation ahead of transfer deadline

Nemanja Matic reportedly wants to discuss his situation with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as clubs monitor his situation at Old Trafford ahead of the September 2nd transfer deadline in Europe.

The Serbia international is past his peak and it doesn’t look like he’s a favourite under Solskjaer right now, having failed to make an appearance so far this season.

Matic was one of the worst performances in an underperforming side last term and he didn’t impress during the pre-season tour, but United are light in midfield as well as attack and losing another option could put Solskjaer under more pressure.

According to the Mirror, Matic wants to meet with Solskjaer to find a solution to this problem as he fears he’s got a long fight ahead of him to replace Scott McTominay in United’s starting eleven.

Despite recent departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini, Matic, who started games last season, is now finding it difficult to get a look in. It doesn’t seem like the 31-year-old will be regarded as a regular this season when not long ago he was one of the first names on the team sheet (under close ally José Mourinho).

Solskjaer may look to play Paul Pogba in a more advanced role in the coming weeks, which could see Matic back in the line-up. Something needs to be done about Jesse Lingard’s lack of goal contribution.

Brazil international Fred is another player who hasn’t played a minute of football since the season began.
