Loads of Man Utd fans call for Solskjaer to start 18-year-old ahead of Jesse Lingard

Many Manchester United fans want to see Angel Gomes start ahead of Jesse Lingard in Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

There are growing frustrations around Lingard’s quality in the final third; the 26-year-old fluffed a good chance to give the Reds a two-goal lead away to Wolves on Monday.

Lingard’s efforts off the ball are a large reason he gets selected, working tirelessly to close down players in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pressing defensive system.

But United need to score more goals and Angel Gomes could be the man to play in behind Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in attack.

Gomes has not yet been given a regular run of games in the first-team, but impressed during the club’s pre-season tour this summer.

The academy graduate hasn’t been selected in a matchday squad by Solskjaer this season, so we do not expect an imminent starting spot for the 18-year-old.

Juan Mata may be next in line to be given a start in the attacking midfield role after coming off the bench at Molineux, but Gomes is in the United manager’s plans this season and we hope to see him given more opportunities as the season progresses and the Reds enter more competitions.
