Report: Sanchez refusing to leave Man Utd as Roma turn attention to Chelsea striker

Alexis Sanchez is refusing to leave Manchester United this summer, according to The Sun.

United’s highest paid player has stalled over a season-long loan move to AS Roma, despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to fill his attack with younger players closer to their prime.

The report claims the Italians are now looking at alternative options as Sanchez, 30, drags his heels over leaving the club, presumably knowing he won’t be paid as much at another top European club.

Partly because none are stupid enough to offer him near £505,000-a-week to do diddly-squat.

Moreover, a separate report from The Sun yesterday suggested that Solskjaer is ready to demote Sanchez to the reserves following reports the Chile international had a training ground bust-up with academy graduate Mason Greenwood.

It doesn’t sound like a good situation for Sanchez – but Solskjaer can only respond now by putting more faith into Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Greenwood because let’s not pretend the former Arsenal talisman was part of the Norwegian’s plans this season.

Roma have apparently turned their attention to Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi.

A decent striker, Michy, who has been around the block since joining Chelsea in 2016 with loans spells at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace. Italy may appeal to him as the next chapter of his career after also spending time playing football in his homeland Belgium with Standard Liege and France with Marseille.

However, the nightmare that is Sanchez has scored just three times in 32 Premier League appearances for United – which, according to The Sun, means he’s averaging 641 minutes PER STRIKE!

Please make it end soon for our sanity.
