Why Coutinho decision could determine Eriksen to Man Utd transfer

According to Sky Sources, Mauricio Pochettino has rang up Philippe Coutinho in an attempt to convince the Brazilian to join Tottenham on loan.

Their report suggests that Spurs are favourites to sign Coutinho, who is ready to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

The former Liverpool played under Pochettino for a brief loan spell at Espanyol so there could be substance behind these links.

If Coutinho does decide to move to North London, then it could free up Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen to join Manchester United.

The Telegraph reports that the Reds are considering a late offer for the 27-year-old, who has expressed his desire to leave Spurs to seek a new challenge earlier this summer.

Eriksen currently has one year left on his current deal, so there is a possibility a deal could be struck.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is a renowned tough negotiator so the Reds would still have to pay a considerable fee for the player.

It could be beneficial for United for Coutinho to move to North London, giving them the green light to pursue Eriksen will just two days until the transfer window shuts.

In Eriksen, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be acquiring a world-class talent who has proven himself consistently in the Premier League for a number of years now, in a midfield that desperately needs strengthening.
