Man Utd ‘in talks’ with Christian Eriksen with growing confidence transfer can be completed

According to Laurie Whitwell, journalist at the Athletic, Manchester United are in talks to sign Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Whitwell also confirms there is no interest in Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, who the Reds have been linked with a move for all summer.

He suggests discussions have been going on for Eriksen for over a week now between the two clubs, and there is a growing confidence that a deal can be completed with just two days until the transfer window shuts.

Erisken, 27, currently has one year left on his current deal in North London and has openly expressed his desire to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

The Telegraph reported earlier that United have stepped up their pursuit of the Danish international in the hope that Tottenham chairman and notoriously tough negotiator Daniel Levy will reduce his asking price.

With just one year left on Eriksen’s deal, Spurs will not want to let the midfielder go for free which means a deal could be struck.

However, there is just hours until the transfer window shuts and the Reds will have to finalise the transfer very quickly if Eriksen is to be brought to Old Trafford.

Erisken could be the creative spark currently missing in United’s side and it would be extremely exciting to see how he would fit into Solskjaer’s set-up if, and it’s a big if, the Reds could get the deal over the line.
