Newcastle ‘keen’ on signing Tuanzebe; Man Utd should keep youngster this summer

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United centre-back Axel Tuanzebe.

Ex-red Steve Bruce brought Tuanzebe to Aston Villa on loan last season before he was sacked, and the youngster subsequently played an important part in the club’s Premier League promotion campaign last season.

And according to the Daily Mail, Bruce wants to be reunited with the 21-year-old at his new club.

The report does not state whether the move would be a loan move, but this would be expected given there are still high hopes for the youngster at Old Trafford.

In truth, the links of Tuanzebe to Newcastle seem convenient given Bruce is clearly a fan of the player and wants a new centre-back at St James’ Park.

Tuanzebe signed a new long-term contract at Old Trafford earlier this summer, showing the faith boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has in the Englishman. The youngster has impressed in a number of games during the Reds’ pre-season tour and there is no reason he can’t progress to becoming a regular first-team squad player next season.

There is no reason for Tuanzebe to be let go, as he is ready to step up at United, even if the Reds strengthen in defence by signing Harry Maguire.

I hope to see the academy graduate feature in Solskjaer’s first-team plans for the new campaign, rather than being loaned out to another Premier League club.
