Man Utd still pursuing Harry Maguire; £80m fee not agreed for Leicester defender

Contrary to reports yesterday, it looks like Manchester United have not yet reached an agreement with Leicester City for Harry Maguire.

A report in The Sun claimed that the Reds had agreed a fee of £60m plus an additional £20m in add-ons for the 26-year-old.

Moreover, the report even claimed the Englishman was set to fly to Manchester to complete his medical at the AON training complex today.

However, according to the Independent, no deal has yet been reached for Maguire and the clubs are still apart in their valuation for the defender.

The report says that Leicester have no pressure to sell the player, who Solskjaer has identified as his priority centre-back signing this summer.

Leicester are reportedly asking for £90m for Maguire, a ridiculous fee given Virgil Van Dijk went to Liverpool for around £15m less.

Although the Reds desperately need a centre-back this summer, if the figure demanded is in fact £90m it would be extremely excessive.

If United can eventually agree on a fee they are happy with for England’s best centre-back, then they would no longer have to keep relying as often on the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling at the back.

Maguire would undoubtedly improve Solskjaer’s side for the upcoming season and could strike a successful partnership with Victor Lindelof in defence.
