De Gea finally ‘set to sign’ 350k p/w five-year contract at Man Utd

David De Gea looks finally set to sign a new contract at Manchester United.

The Sunday Mirror revealed that talks between the Spaniard’s agent Jorge Mendes and the United hierarchy have been successful and the goalkeeper will extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The report claims the 28-year-old will increase his wages from £200,000 per-week to £350,000 per-week in a new five-year deal.

If these reports are to to be believed, this is fantastic news for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. De Gea only had one year left on his current deal and at times it looked unlikely a deal would be agreed with the Spaniard holding out for similar wages to Alexis Sanchez.

De Gea has been an excellent servant for the club and has comfortably been the most influential player during his eight-year stay so far.

Despite a dip in form last season, he is still undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the world and signing him to a new deal would be one of the best pieces of business the Reds do this transfer window.

De Gea and the rest of the United squad are currently preparing to fly out for their pre-season tour of Australia where they face Perth Glory and Leeds United.
