Solskjaer wants to ‘speed up’ transfer of Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told United chiefs to accelerate negotiations with Sporting Lisbon for midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes has been heavily linked with United all summer, as well as rivals Tottenham and Liverpool.

According to Portuguese publication Record, as translated by Sport Witness, the Reds are ahead of Spurs in the race to sign the 24-year-old.

The report also claims that Solskjaer has asked those above him to ‘speed up’ transfer negotiations for the player as the Norwegian wants new signings in before United start pre-season.

United’s players are expected back for pre-season on 1st July, and we have still only seen one new arrival through the door at Old Trafford in Daniel James.

Time is certainly running out for Ed Woodward and co to get all targets in before the start of pre-season. Fans are growing increasingly frustrated at what seems like yet another transfer window where the Reds are simply failing to get deals for targets over the line.

Fernandes is a signing that would excite fans, with an ability to create opportunities and shoot from distance. United are crying out for a goal-scoring midfielder after struggling for large parts finding the net last season.

Let’s hope the key men involved in transfers at Old Trafford do not let Solskjaer down this summer.
