Man Utd expected to make first formal offer for Portuguese star this week

The Portuguese press think Manchester United will make their first formal offer for Sporting Lisbon and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes this week.

With thanks to Sport Witness, who translated the work of newspapers A Bola and O Jogo, it was brought to our attention that the Red Devils are ready to take the lead in the race to make a deal happen.

A Bola claim Sporting are trying to get all of the money in one big bulk. No performance bonuses or gradual payments.

Sometimes United will pay for a player over a number of years – depending on the agreement they have in place with the other club. Moreover, the report from A Bola adds that a former offer from Old Trafford could be made ‘at any time’ this week.

The other report, published in O Jogo, also swings in United’s favour with suggestions the Premier League club is ‘committed to taking the lead’ with an offer coming this week.

Fernandes could arrive at United this summer as a replacement for Ander Herrera, but his creativity could also be of benefit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if Paul Pogba leaves before the new season begins.
