Report claims Ander Herrera has agreed to join PSG

According to Duncan Castles of the Daily Record, Ander Herrera has agreed on a pre-contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

If the report is to be believed, United are set to lose the Spain international to the Ligue 1 champions on a Bosman because he was left unimpressed by United’s latest offer (precise details unknown).

Herrera joined United from Athletic Bilbao in 2014 and has since made 187 appearances for the club. He has been given a starting role under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is performing brilliantly as a result, though it comes as some surprise to us that he would want to leave Old Trafford.

It will disappoint Solskjaer if Herrera does end up leaving United at the end of the season. The manager would have the Spaniard as part of his plans for next season, but a potential exit means United will definitely need at least two midfield signings in the summer.

PSG expect to lose Adrien Rabiot in the summer on a free transfer, so targeting Herrera makes perfect sense. The France international refused a new deal at Parc des Princes and has been linked with moves across Europe.

United need to stop delaying contract renewals. It’s proving to be expensive for the club and it’s all a bit Arsenal for my liking.

Moreover, we shouldn’t forget how the club gave Marouane Fellaini a new bumper deal in the summer before letting him leave for the Chinese Super League in January.
