Man Utd to trigger £155m release clause to sign two young promising Portuguese stars – rumour

Manchester United are reportedly considering moves for Portugal starlets Ruben Dias and Joao Felix.

According to Record, the two Benfica stars have release clauses in their contracts with a combined value of £155 million, and it has been suggested that United are willing to pay for the duo.

While Dias is a senior Portugal international, Felix is yet to make the jump from U21s but has attracted tons of interest from around Europe after impressing this season.

Liverpool are one of many teams that are being linked with a move for the playmaker, so signing the 18-year-old whizzkid shouldn’t be straight forward.

Dias plays a centre-back and United could see him as a partner for Victor Lindelof, who joined United from Benfica in 2017. The Swede has been excellent this season but a world-class defensive signing is needed if the Reds are to push on next season and beyond.

The Portugal international has started 23 league games for Benfica this term as well as scoring two goals for the Portuguese giants.

Less has been written about Dias than Felix, but this is still a rumour worth keeping an eye on.

Though if United are going to sign a centre-back this season, which we fully expect to happen, they would be better signing a truly world-class player like Kalidou Koulibaly. A player of that quality would definitely make us stronger defensively.
