Man Utd to make move for £30m-rated PSV star Steven Bergwijn in summer

Manchester United will consider making a move for PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn in the summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old is valued over £30 million and has played a key part in PSV sitting comfortably on top of Eredivisie, five points clear of Ajax.

Sky Sports claim United’s head of global scouting, Marcel Bout, is known to be a fan of the youngster, who has netted 10 goals and as many assists in 26 games this season.

Bergwijn earned his first international cap with the Netherlands in October on the back of impressive performances for PSV.

The report suggests United have been watching Bergwijn but will wait until the summer to make an offer.

While Transfermarkt states Bergwijn can play on either wing, he is described primarily as a left winger.

Though it’s the right flank United need to address with Anthony Martial already attacking from the left and about to sign a new deal.

The last Dutch player to sign for United was another winger straight from the Eredivisie, however, it didn’t work out as planned.

Louis van Gaal brought Memphis Depay to United from PSV in a £25 million deal, as reported by the Telegraph, but he was unable to replicate his goalscoring at Old Trafford and didn’t last in the team as a result.

Memphis is enjoying his football again in France with Lyon.
