How Solskjaer used hairdryer treatment on Man Utd players in recent FA Cup win

It has been revealed that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer gave the players a dressing down during the club’s 2-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup.

This proves the Norwegian is more than just a smiley face and is capable of giving players the infamous hairdryer treatment, first established under Sir Alex Ferguson, which consisted of screaming directly in the faces for a couple of minutes.

As reported by The Telegraph, Solskjaer then continued to speak calmly to his players about how to approach the second half. The report claims he never spoke of the matter again, but his direct and honest nature should go down well with the players.

This is totally different approach to management than what became the norm under former boss José Mourinho, who is renowned for holding grudges with players and creating a horrid atmosphere in the dressing room.

Solskjaer’s treatment of United players shows on the pitch. The lads now express themselves with attacking intent and look free to do so…

United now look to score more even if two of three ahead, whereas under Mourinho the approach was far more conservative with the Reds often going defensive from the start or after scoring one goal.

It appears Solskjaer has done everything right so far because sometimes footballers need a bollocking. I’m sure he’s got the hairdryer treatment from Fergie down the years, though the players more realise he’s doing it for the better of their careers and the club. Not to stand out like a sore thumb making excuses because results are going his way.

Manchester United will take on Arsenal at The Emirates in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
