Real Madrid legend Ronaldo picks 2003 Champions League match against Man Utd as his favourite moment

Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) has revealed that his favourite moment in football came in 2003 against Manchester United at Old Trafford, and his career was glittered by fantastic moments.

The Real Madrid legend said that the Champions League encounter was beautiful, with him picking up a hat-trick for Los Blancos in a 4-3 defeat.

“It was the Champions League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford,” Ronaldo is quoted by SportBible.

“It was a beautiful and open duel, and I scored three goals then. It was amazing.

“The best came when I was changed. The whole stadium said goodbye to me with a huge ovation.

“Everyone stood up, I would never expect something like that. I was surprised by this spontaneous reaction of fans, for whom I was a rival after all.

“It was a magical moment, one of the most important in my life. Football is everything to me. When I look back, I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in my career.”

Unfortunately, United were beaten 3-1 by the Spanish giants in the first leg of the quarter-final. Then Ronaldo opened the scoring for Madrid, only for legend Ruud van Nistelrooy to equalise for the Reds prior to half-time.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men did all they could but couldn’t keep the former Barcelona and Inter Milan star out but the Madrid side in question boasted incredible technical and attacking players such as Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo, so it was always going to be challenge for the Premier League giants.
