Man Utd should prioritise £60m-rated defender after contract talks with Italian giants delay

Inter Milan face a transfer concern as it’s claimed that centre-back Milan Skriniar could be open to a move to England.

Jose Mourinho was left frustrated over Manchester United’s inability to sign a new defender this past summer, as per The Independent, and it would make perfect sense for the club now to make attempts to unsettle Skriniar further and convince him to move to Old Trafford.

That may sound unethical but it regularly happens in football. And it doesn’t stop Barcelona players talking out about the club’s potential transfer targets as seen with Paul Pogba, as per RAC1, with Suarez opening the door for the Frenchman’s arrival.

At the tender age of 23, Skriniar has become Inter’s main man at the back. He made 40 appearances in all competitions last season and played a key role in helping the Serie A giants return to the Champions League.

Manager Luciano Spalletti knows replacing a defender like Skriniar for the Nerazzurri will undoubtedly prove to be an extremely difficult task, so the thought of losing him now is likely to unease all concerned at the club.

According to the paper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, cited by Calciomercato, Skriniar could delay a contract renewal with Inter as he is aware of interest from the Premier League.

The Metro claims United are interested, albeit it could take up to £60 million to prize him away from Inter at the end of the season.

In today’s market, that’s a small price to pay to rejuvenate your defence and it’s an area of concern for United after conceding 14 goals in just eight Premier League games so far this season, the worst defensive record of the top 16 sides in the table.
