Man Utd set to fine star £180k over pre-season antics

Manchester United are reportedly set to hand Anthony Martial a £180,000 fine for not returning to pre-season training.

While the club gave Martial permission to temporarily leave the pre-season tour the US to be present for the birth of his newborn, he was expected to return swiftly and he’s gone eight days without training, according to The Sun.

The France international has been on bad terms with Jose Mourinho since last season, with tensions rising beginning to rise from his first term in charge.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror report that the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Phil Jones could come to the manager’s rescue by cutting their holidays short in the hope of making it back for our Premier League opener against Leicester City.

The trio made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer with Belgium and England, respectively, so they weren’t expected to return to United this soon.

Victor Lindelof arrived back at Carrington three days ago too, therefore, the Swede should also be available to face the Foxes to launch United’s season, hopefully, with a win.

However, it looks like Martial will be on his way before the Premier League season starts.
