Man Utd set to test waters with Premier League rivals in attempt to wrap up third summer signing

Chelsea are expecting a serious bid from Manchester United for Brazil international, as they look to test the waters after Barcelona had a bid rejected this week.

Jose Mourinho brought the 29-year-old to Stamford Bridge in 2013 and he remains a big fan of the winger. Now, after his relationship with Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte turned sour, there’s a feeling United stand a chance in securing his signature.

It would be a mighty acquisition too, with United signing a second Chelsea player in as many years. Nemanja Matic performed superbly in his debut season for the Reds with Conte annoyed by the club’s decision to help strengthen a domestic rival.

This potential transfer would have the same result.

Still, Conte is expected to be forced out of the club this summer, with Maurizio Sarri expected to take over.

The Express claim Mourinho is eager to make most of the mess of a situation at his former club.

And, even if Sarri does come in and tells Willian that he part of his plans, the lack of Champions League football with Chelsea next season could also come under consideration.
