Jose Mourinho identifies Martial replacement, with a Premier League swap potentially on the cards

Anthony Martial’s agent has confirmed the Frenchman wants to leave Manchester United, so Jose Mourinho now needs to find a replacement.

The player’s representative, Philippe Lamboley, spoke to RMC Sport and revealed that his client wants to leave Old Trafford after failing to see serious progression in contract talks.

Mourinho is currently in Russia for the World Cup, but he’ll also be using that as a scouting mission despite valuations for players at the tournament going through the roof.

Still, only 22, Martial’s exit could come back to bite United in the arse, as if given a prominent role elsewhere, it’s likely that he would shine.

But, according to ESPN, Mourinho already has a target lined up to replace Martial, as it’s claimed that he wants to reunite with Chelsea winger Willian to fill the void.

The pair know each other well after previously working together at Stamford Bridge — Mourinho signed Willian for Chelsea — with the Brazil international impressing last season after bagging 13 goals and recording 12 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.

Now, there’s an opportunity to link up with a fellow countryman at Old Trafford with Fred joining from Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.

Adding fuel to the fire, Willian cast his future at Chelsea in real doubt after aiming a dig at Antonio Conte after the FA Cup final, as covered by Sky Sports.

Interestingly, The Guardian ran a piece one month ago on Chelsea’s interest in signing Martial, as the Frenchman was viewed as a possible replacement for Eden Hazard, so it remains a possibility that both clubs could negotiate a deal.

Let us know in the comments section below if you would be happy taking Willian if it meant Martial was going the other way?
