Domestic rival enters race to sign Anthony Martial

According to the Guardian, Chelsea have joined a list of clubs monitoring Anthony Martial’s situation at Manchester United would move for the France international if the striker agitates for a transfer from Old Trafford this summer.

Martial has endured a frustrating third campaign in English football, starting just 17 Premier League games and it’s no wonder clubs are sniffing around to issue a fresh start next season. The Frenchman is contracted to United until 2019 with an option for a further year but reports in the Independent suggest manager Jose Mourinho would not stand in his way if his wish was to leave.

Juventus are reportedly one of the clubs very keen on signing Martial, as per the Mirror, but from a United perspective it would be a kick in the balls to lose a player as talented as the former Monaco forward.

The same report from the Guardian claims Chelsea, braced for Real Madrid to firm up their long-standing interest in Eden Hazard, would consider the 22-year-old a player of considerable potential, but also one with the quality already to feature anywhere across the front line.

United fans I’m sure would rather keep hold of Martial than anything else, but losing the attacker to a domestic rival would be a serious blow.
