Manchester United face a crucial summer as they bid to build a squad capable of seriously challenging for football’s top honours.

United are on course to secure second place in the Premier League this season, but they will be eager to overhaul local rivals Manchester City next term.

Their exit from the Champions League against Sevilla in the last 16 of the competition isn’t in keeping with the club’s ambitions and manager Jose Mourinho will be eager to assemble a group of players who can mix it with the best.

The Red Devils have inevitably been linked with numerous targets, but read on to find out who we think is most likely to join the club this summer.

Danny Rose – Tottenham Hotspur

United are in the market for players in both full-back positions and Tottenham’s Danny Rose has been heavily tipped to head north this summer.

The 27-year-old had a much-publicised fall-out with Spurs last August over their transfer business and their failure to win a trophy this season will have done little to appease Rose.

The England left-back is priced at 6/4 to move to Old Trafford this summer, but check out these bonus codes with bitcoins offers before wagering on his likely destination.

A possible £50 million fee for Rose does appear excessive for a player who has struggled with injuries in recent times.

Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon would be a more appealing alternative, but the persistent rumours about Rose point to him being the number one target.

Clement Lenglet – Sevilla

The Sevilla centre-back is wanted by United, although Barcelona are also interested in signing the 22-year-old.

Barca star Samuel Umtiti and Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld are others who have been linked with United, but the France U21 star could be a far more cost-effective option than the aforementioned pair.

Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof have failed to produce the level of consistent performances needed in championship-winning sides and Lenglet’s displays in Sevilla’s two Champions League meetings with United were certainly impressive.

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson are also believed to be on United’s radar, but Lenglet looks the type of player who could form a formidable partnership with Eric Bailly.

Fred – Shakhtar Donetsk

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder seemed destined for a move to the Etihad Stadium, but United made contact with the Brazilian’s representatives after the winter transfer window closed and appear to be in pole position to secure his services.

Club captain Michael Carrick has confirmed he is retiring at the end of the season, while Marouane Fellaini looks set to exit on a free transfer leaving United in need of midfield reinforcements.

However, the emergence of Scott McTominay has relieved some of the pressure in that department and it seems unlikely that Mourinho will splash the cash on two players in that area.

Napoli’s Jorginho has also been touted for a move to Old Trafford, but Fred’s signing at around £40 million looks the most likely one to happen.
