David de Gea reacts to being named in PFA Premier League Team of the Year

David de Gea has been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year after another cracking season for Manchester United. At this rate, the world’s greatest goalkeeper is no longer an argument.

De Gea’s consistently brilliant displays are one of the main reasons for United’s drive for a top-two finish. Without the Spaniard between the posts it would be considered a nightmare to think how low we would be finishing each season, so it’s important now that the club tie him up on another long-term deal.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has also been shortlisted for the overall PFA Players’ Player of the Year accolade. De Gea took to Twitter when he heard the news:

Talk of interest from Real Madrid has resurfaced so it would be a nice gesture from the club and player to fans if they could get a contract sealed before the World Cup.

The Spain national team or De Gea won’t want preparations put in jeopardy over a transfer saga so everyone ought to clear things up promptly. Obviously, there is a lure to La Liga from De Gea’s point of view but it’s clear he loves playing for United.
