Manchester United defender welcomes Juventus interest

Matteo Darmian has played just 196 minutes this season and is leaning towards an exit from Old Trafford this summer.

The Italian is ‘pleased’ to see interest from the Serie A’s biggest club despite his spell at United being a bit of a nightmare.

“Juventus? This interest is pleasing,” Darmian told Sky Italia. “Juve are a great club and to be of interest to a club like that is important. We’ll definitely make the right evaluations at the end of the season.

“I’m a part of one of the biggest clubs in the world and I’m proud of that, it allows me to win important trophies. There’s nostalgia for Italy and I do miss it, let’s finish the season and then we’ll evaluate things.”

Ashley Young has established himself as United’s first choice left-back and right-back Darmian, who can play on both flanks, has failed to oust Antonio Valencia on the opposite side.

“It’s character building,” Darmian added of his lack of playing time. “We players live to play but it’s not always possible. In football there are a lot of variables like injuries or the coach’s choices. I’ve always respected them and my coach in any case.”

It would be fair to say he won’t be missed at Old Trafford.
