Robin van Persie set to join Fenerbahce for £4.7m

Turkish side Fenerbahce have reached an agreement with Manchester United over the transfer of Robin van Persie for a fee believed to be worth £4.7 million.

The Dutch striker is currently in London undergoing a medical prior to his move to Fenerbahce.

According to the Guardian, Fenerbahce sporting director, Guiliano Terraneo, travelled to England to hold final talks with United this week and the Turkish club expect the move to be completed before the end of the week.

Van Persie, who will join Nani at Fenerbahce, has been offered a three-year deal with an option for a further year.

The fee sounds small for a player of van Persie’s standard but at the age of 31, United may not be able to get a better deal for the striker, who has looked disinterested ever since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
