Agent confirms Manchester United target will leave Valencia this summer

Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of signing Valencia CF defender Nicola Otamendi after failing in their attempts to do so in January.

Speaking to Cadena SER Radio on Monday afternoon, Eugenio Lopez, the agent of Otamendi, declared in no uncertain terms the wishes of his client.

“Nico wants to leave Valencia and will do everything possible to get out.”

Lopez said the news should not come as a surprise to Valencia president Amadeo Salvo.

“Nicolas told Amadeo Salvo two months ago to his face, that he wants to leave Valencia in the summer.”

Otamendi’s agent is Jorge Mendes who has a decent track record with Manchester United, who are believed to be interested in the 27-year-old Argentine.

There were rumours of United reigniting their interest in the former Porto man in January. Guillem Balague reported a bid of £27 million from the Old Trafford outlet but that approach was knocked back Otamendi decided to stay in Spain at least until the summer.

However, Manchester United were expected to come back with a big offer once the season concluded as reported by Balague again.
