Will the title race take another twist?

Following our 1-0 defeat to City at the Etihad on Monday night, Manchester United fans have their fingers crossed hoping City will wobble in their last two fixtures of the 2011/12 campaign. Roberto Mancini’s men are currently sitting on top with a far superior goal difference.

With City’s final game of the season at home to Queens Park Rangers, who have an awful away record this season, we’re relying on Newcastle to get a result at St James’ Park on Sunday. And with Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse up front for the Toons, who can blame us for being optimistic?

The blues proved throughout the season that they’re beatable. Chelsea, Sunderland, Everton, Swansea and Arsenal have all beaten City in the league but even a draw this weekend would satisfy us.

As much as I hate relying on other clubs, particularly ones I hate, losing the league title to City would be a hard punch to take. It would be insufferable looking at how giddy they can get – Diego Maradona being a key example. After full time on Monday night, the Napoli legend danced up out of his seat hugging his daughter, who is also Aguero’s wife. He looked as if he found a new island covered in cocaine.

City are more vulnerable away from home too, conceding seventeen goals on the road as opposed to just ten at the Etihad. So, we can only hope Cisse or Ba make that 18 at least…
