One youngster leaves and another joins

Being a Manchester United fan during the January transfer market made some feel like they were children again. Sitting inside your house watching your friends have fun outside, through your window. We felt grounded and that’s pretty much been the case ever since the Glazers took over in 2005, with a few exceptions.

However, on deadline day we witnessed a bit of activity. Ravel Morrison moved down south to West Ham signing a three year contract and Manchester City’s Frederic Veseli joined us because he didn’t feel like he was making any progress with the blues.

Ravel Morrison’s departure disappointed many Reds that followed the start of his career, moving swiftly through the ranks at United. Some people went as far as touting him to be the biggest prospect at United since Paul Scholes. That, especially for an 18-year-old, is a lot of praise but he sadly didn’t seem interested.

It was late last year when Ferguson and his staff decided they had enough of Morrison’s antics. Danny Taylor covered it brilliantly for the Guardian this month suggesting that United were struggling to keep control of the youngster which to some extent is true.

“I’m really pleased to have signed,” said Morrison after putting pen to paper with the Hammers.

“The move has happened very quickly and I’m looking forward to hopefully moving up to the Premier League with West Ham soon. I’m an attacking player and I’m hoping to get the fans on their feet. I met with Sam Allardyce this morning and he welcomed me to the club. I also played with Robert Hall in the England team and I know him well so that will be really helpful to have someone here that I know.”

Early Tuesday morning when Ravel was on his way to London, Manchester Evening News broke the story that we had signed Frederic Veseli from our noisy neighbours.

The 19-year-old defender joined City in 2008 but has become frustrated because he doesn’t feel like he’s made any progress with the lack of first team opportunities. The Swiss international made his debut for the bitters during a pre-season friendly, although, he knew his time with City was up when Stefan Savic started ahead of him with Vincent Kompany being absent due to suspension.

Veseli, now nicknamed Fred the Red, captained the Swiss U-17 side to World Cup glory back in 2009. He was praised by City’s academy staff for his composure on the ball and being capable of playing in a number of positions, including midfield.

  1. he will realise the mistake he has made, and that there is no turning back. ask any devout united fan like myself what they would do to play for the club, and it will differ massively from the view of a petulant chav who doesnt have a clue whats best for him. hopefully Paul Pogba sees this and realises the opportunity he has to become a great. im glad to see him go, albeit his potential and talent, because people who challenge Fergie and the club dont deserve to be associated with it.

  3. leave Ravel alone, like most people said, he most likely end up with striped shirts.

And I love our new boy, Frederic Veseli, just hours after he signed for us, he tweeted words that would make City fans pissed off!

really love him, FredtheRed loves the club more than Ravel loves United
