United’s move for Sneijder is still on, according to Wesley Sneijder

It is no secret that Sir Alex has his first choice on who he wants to anchor our midfield come next season, however, he is still a manager not to mess with.  Transfer sagas rarely drag on under Ferguson’s watch and the Wesley Sneijder to United deal seemed to be dead in the water even though everyone has come out of the woodwork (read: Beckham) to encourage the Inter star to make the move.

From the transfer fee to the personal terms this deal has had it’s fair share of trouble, enough trouble for Sir Alex to respond:

“If he wants to come he must accept our contract offer If not, we have other options in mind. We’re done talking.”

While Ferguson denies making this statement, it is clear that SAF is done with the discussion.  This usually leads to the door swinging wide open, or slamming shut, but one way or another it means that Ferguson is done talking.

Unlike Ferguson, I don’t believe that the future Paul Scholes is currently at United, and I was disappointed that the Sneijder negotiations went this direction. Until today…

Developments ongoing right now may have shifted the door to the open position.  Sneijder today has admitted that “there is always a chance something will happen”, while at the same time Gasperini, Inter’s manager, was quoted, “there has been an offer [to Sneijder]”.

Us United fans have heard this before, but usually after Ferguson makes his stance known, something usually develops.  This may be the start of the transfer materializing.  What do you think, same old song and dance, or will we see Sneijder juggling with Fred the Red?

  1. I don’t believe that this talk is still going on, it’s about time the club put their hands in the piggy bank and buy at least one impressive signing, you always see the likes of barca and real spending loads on a player, were supposed to be the most supported or famous club in the world, go on fergie sign him up, as they say.

  5. SAF has said in past he not going for a certain player. Such as he did say once we wont sign De Gea, Owen but look what happend. SAF says things, he has said Ronaldo wont leave, but look what happened. Sniejder would be a great signing for Man United. Hoping to get him before season starts.
